Artist Statement
"I get the ideas for my paintings from the inspirational views and subject material I find
when I visit the rural communities of Newfoundland and Labrador. Seashore
scenes, wildlife, mountains, icebergs, and small fishing communities of
Newfoundland and Labrador can provide an artist with a limitless supply of
inspirational material. Most of my paintings are of areas along the Northern
peninsula of the island because of the beautiful scenery and our frequent
visits to the area. I try to reflect in those paintings Newfoundland's unique
character.
A lot of my paintings contain children, but my main purpose
is not to have them as the central theme in my paintings. It is the unique
places that they live and play in that truly reflects the character of
Newfoundland and Labrador."
